Work undertaken
Foundations

Foundations

We can install the correct foundations that are needed to provide safety and stability to the building or structure.

Pile caps ground beams

Pile caps & ground beams

We can use pile caps for additional strength especially within the sloped ground and ground beams to connect piles.

Reinforced structures

Reinforced structures

We build reinforced structures to provide extra strength in areas where the concrete alone may not be able to bear the load.

In situ concrete floor slabs

In situ concrete floor slabs

We can create concrete floor slabs on-site for your project.

Gas membranes

Gas membranes

We use gas membranes to prevent harmful gases that pose serious health hazards indoors.

Lift shafts

Lift shafts

We build lift shafts to provide a dedicated space for the lift to move up and down efficiently and safely.

Floor slab preparation

Floor slab preparation

We prepare the base or foundation for a concrete floor or slabs.

    Frequently asked questions

    • Customisation: The shape, size, and design of the floor can be customised to meet the specific needs of the building.
    • Durability: In-situ concrete floors are highly durable and able to withstand heavy loads, making them ideal for use in buildings that will be subjected to heavy foot traffic or machinery.
    • Fire resistance: Concrete is highly fire-resistant, making in-situ concrete floors an excellent choice for buildings that require high levels of fire protection.
    • Aesthetics: In-situ concrete floors can be finished in a variety of ways to create a range of attractive surface finishes, including polished concrete, exposed aggregate, and coloured concrete.
    • Sustainability: In-situ concrete floors are often seen as a sustainable choice because they can be made with locally sourced materials and require less energy for transportation than precast floors.

The construction of in-situ concrete floors requires careful planning and attention to detail to ensure that the formwork is properly designed and constructed, the reinforcement is placed correctly, and the concrete is poured and cured under the right conditions to ensure a high-quality finished product.

Floor slab preparation involves the process of preparing a base or foundation for a concrete floor slab. It’s an essential step in constructing a solid, durable and level floor surface for residential, commercial or industrial buildings.

The preparation process typically includes the following steps:

    1. Site preparation: This involves clearing the site of any debris or obstructions, grading the soil to ensure a level surface, and compacting the soil to prevent settling or shifting of the slab over time.
    2. Installation of base materials: A layer of base material, such as crushed stone or gravel, is then installed on the compacted soil. This helps to provide a stable and level base for the concrete slab to rest on.
    3.  Installation of vapour barriers: A vapour barrier, such as a plastic sheet or membrane, may be installed over the base material to prevent moisture from seeping up into the concrete slab. This is particularly important in areas with high levels of moisture or where there is a risk of water damage.
    4. Reinforcement: Steel reinforcement bars or mesh may be installed in the base material to provide added strength and stability to the concrete slab. This helps to prevent cracking and shifting of the slab over time.
    5. Formwork: Formwork is a temporary structure that is used to define the shape and dimensions of the concrete slab. It is typically made of wood, metal, or plastic and is secured in place with stakes or other anchors.
    6. Concrete pouring: Once the formwork and reinforcement are in place, the concrete can be poured into the space within the formwork. The concrete must be mixed to the correct consistency and poured in a continuous and controlled manner to ensure a uniform and level surface.
    7. Finishing: After the concrete has been poured, it may be finished with various techniques to achieve the desired texture and appearance. This may include smoothing the surface with a trowel or adding decorative elements.
